Stewardship Chairs
Our stewardship campaign begins this Sunday! Please start thinking about any time, talent, or treasures you might be able to share this coming year!
Your HPPC Session held its monthly meeting Tuesday, October 3rd.
The following information was shared and decisions were acted upon:
– Rev. John Hougen, the Presbytery-appointed Moderator, led the elders in an educational and Spiritual Training Session regarding the Responsibilities of the Session and the Spiritual Calling of Elders.
– The Interim Pastor Nominating Committee has submitted all necessary forms to our Presbytery of Tampa Bay to begin processing. Next, they will be input into the Presbytery Computer Matching System to identify candidates who may align with our needs, goals and objectives. Then, interviews and reference calls may begin with viable candidates. Please pray for this process and for God to lead us to the best candidate to lead our church moving forward.
– A Financial Report was provided by Treasurer Tony Brannan Jr. who urged the members of the Session to begin reviewing their budgets from 2023 and begin looking at the needs and plans for 2024 so that we can begin crafting the 2024 budget. He encouraged all church members to try their best to fulfill the pledges they made toward the 2023 budget so that we may end the year on a positive note.
– The Session was delighted that Chris and Laura Tanner have accepted the role of Stewardship Campaign Chairs during the months of October-November. Much thanks to the Tanners for leading us in this process! We encourage all church members to prayerfully consider their pledge commitment for 2024.
– The Session voted to NOT SELL our Handbells at this time, as was proposed by an eager session member to bring in much-needed funds to support our budget. The decision was made to HOLD ON to the musical instruments for possible future use.
– Nancy Corwin, Chair of Personnel, reported that the two young women who have been working faithfully in our Church Nursery have resigned, effective at the end of this year. They have performed a great service to our church, and we are grateful for their kindness, gentleness and care given to our babies and toddlers. We need to fill their positions by caring, devoted individuals moving forward. If anyone has suggestions of individuals who would be great to serve in this capacity, please email your ideas to Nancy Corwin.
A note from Treasurer Tony Brannan, Jr.
Each church member’s “Per Capita” donation, which must be paid by HPPC to the Presbytery of Tampa Bay, is $36.00 for 2023. Please send in your family’s share to HPPC; just reference “per capita”.
You can give on the Church Center app or EasyTitheon our website: click the dropdown for Fund and choose Per Capita. Or write a check or bill pay, referencing Per Capita. Remember: the amount is $36 for each church member in your family.
Thank you,
Tony Brannan, Jr., Treasurer
Once was lost, but now is found.
Some keys were found outside the Willow door a few weeks ago. They are in the office; if someone lost them they can call the church office (813.253-0069) between 9:00 and 1:00 and speak with Ann, or email Office@hydeparkpres.com
(A pair of glasses is also on the shelf outside the office window … they’ve resided there for several months now!)
