Bring a toy for the Advent Guardian Angel Toy Drive to place under the beautiful tree decorated with Chrismons. And invite a friend or neighbor: this will be FUN!!

‘Tis the season for our Guardian ad Litem Toy Drive. You can be an Advent Angel!
1. Buy new toys (do not wrap) and gift cards (Chick fil A, Starbucks, Burger King etc) for the children within the Guardian ad Litem program.
2. Place under the Chrismon Tree on Dec. 3rd, 6:00.
3. Bring to church no later than Noon on Dec. 10.
Toys should be for toddlers to older teens, and multi-cultural given the diverse population amongst the children. Gift cards and monetary donations are also welcome — HPPC Mission Elves LOVE to shop!
Don’t Miss the Cute Crafts for Dec. 3 at 4:30!
Count down with Jessie Trees – Each family will make and take home a beautiful 18” tree with 25 wooden ornaments tracing the lineage of our Lord. Each day throughout Advent, read the corresponding Bible verse and hang the ornament on your tree.
Christmas Crackers – An olde English tradition that brings lots of fun to your Christmas table. Make enough for everyone at your holiday meal complete with jokes, Bible verses, trinkets, and of course paper crowns and snappers so they’ll go pop! Kids love this craft and secretly choose special items to fill them. We need your empty toilet paper tubes!!
Cookie Decorating – It wouldn’t be a HPPC Advent Celebration without everyone’s favorite: Cookie Decorating – and eating!
We really appreciate a $10 per family donation to help cover the cost of crafts.
Dec. 10 ’til 3pm Linger Longer & Play Rehearsal
The children have their parts for the Christmas pageant. Everyone has their scripts as well. If we end up having newcomers—little guests, grandchildren who are visiting, nieces, nephews, etc—and they want to participate, Ms Faith can find them a spot, too!.
The Linger Longer on Dec 10th will be lunch and recess for the kids 12-1 and turn into a dress rehearsal for both the adults and the children from 1-3pm.
Pajama Story Time (Virtual)

Advent Devotional Books for Individual Study and Adult Sunday School
We have copies of “A Surprising God” … Advent devotions for an uncertain time. Get your copy ($10) to have some reflective time during this time of waiting (and frenzy, if we aren’t careful!). The book will also be used for discussion in the Adult Sunday School class.

Let our Sanctuary reflect the beauty of the season; donate a Poinsettia!
You may take yours home after the Candlelight Service on Christmas Eve. $20 each. You may pay on Church Center, EasyTithe, or fill out a paper form and include cash or check in the offering plate.
The members of HPPC will elect the new class of elders to serve on The Session next year. The slate presented by the Nominating Committee are Nancy Corwin (2 year term), Sandy Kennedy, Ann Maxey, Harriet Plyler and Annie Shipherd. The 2024 Nominating Committee is also scheduled to be elected. Please plan on staying after Worship for this important business.
End 68 Advent Countdown
During the advent season the Missions ministry hopes you will not only provide toys for the guardian ad litem children but will also participate in a Waiting for Christmas Advent Activity. Each day between now and Christmas, place an item needed by the children in End 68 Hours of Hunger in bags which can be found in your pew on Sunday Dec. 3rd.
The bags should be returned by January 1 so they can be used for the children when they return from their Christmas holiday. Lists of needed items are in the bags.
And of course, you may also donate via our Amazon wish list or write a check to help out some of the 700 kids we are now feeding every week. Thanks and enjoy the wait!

Sandy Kennedy honored as the Lightning Community Hero for her work with End 68.
Sandy Kennedy has been instrumental in the continual growth of End 68 Hours of Hunger as they serve children who struggle with food insecurity. Although “retired”, Sandy spends most of her waking hours working to improve processes and expand the impact End 68 has in our community. She is the logistical leader in coordinating food availability, purchasing, pick up/delivery and pantry restocking, as well as creating and updating lists used by packing teams each week.
The $50,000 received from this grant will be used to continue to further and expand the mission of End 68 Hours of Hunger.
Sandy is an elder and dedicated member of HPPC, serving on both the Missions and Communications Committees. She is indeed the light and love of Christ in action for our community. The current tagline on her emails is: “If you cannot feed a hundred people, then feed just one.”
