New Member Informational Gathering
Sunday, June 2 after Worship
Interested in finding out more about joining the congregation of Hyde Park Presbyterian Church? Stay a little after Worship for an Informational Gathering.

Clarification: We are not “gathering information” … it’s a low-key “gathering of people” interested in getting more information. Is that a misplaced modifier? I don’t think so, but it’s still a bit confusing. Join us … and get the facts!

Feel free to invite a friend or two … we can always spill out (pun intended) onto the pool deck.

Security Task Force Update

Our new Security Task Force (Josh Crum, Tony Brannan Sr, Dek Wright, and Rev. John) recommends improvements to maintain a safe environment for our church. Progress so far:

Sunday at 10:00 am, the Orleans & Willow entrance doors  are secured. The one available entrance is the Sanctuary Foyer on Swann; our ushers are monitoring those doors.

There are 4 Panic Buttons in the church. A Panic Button will alert the Tampa Police Department that we have a problem and they will respond. Three Panic Buttons are in the Sanctuary: the pulpit, the balcony with our Tech Team, and in the Foyer. Ushers are shown where the button is. The fourth Panic Button is at the secretary’s desk.

We are adding security cameras to the facility. The Narthex has a wide angle security camera — visible to those entering the church. This can be a deterrent as well as a video record. More cameras are being added throughout the church.

We are  installing motion-activated lights in hallways and stairwells to alert us to an intruder and enable better quality video recording from our security cameras.

We are making important gains towards insuring the wellbeing of our members and visitors. Your ideas are always welcome. If you have suggestions or questions please email them to the church office.

Feeding Friends Cooking Team Stocks the Freezer!

Many thanks to Jane Brannan, who coordinated the food and the cooks as every burner in her kitchen was used to pack up Jett’s Jambalaya and Creamy Sausage Linguine for the church freezer. Cooks included Jane (also photographer, shopper and hostess with the mostest), Tony Brannan, Betsy McEleny, Sandy Kennedy, Ann Maxey, Ann Shipherd, Marion Swartz, Lynda Waters and Mark Maxey. Ann Orand joined in after the photo. It was a fun evening!

Now it’s YOUR turn! Please pick up a dinner from the downstairs kitchen freezer for a friend or neighbor who could use a break from cooking dinner one night. There are many needs around us … let’s step out of our comfort zone and offer a smile and a meal.

A Look Back at Mother’s Day
Brenda Kinley and son Ed with Rev. John Hougen on Mother’s Day … flowers delivered to The Estate at Hyde Park, a senior memory care residence … and hundreds of diapers donated to lend a helping hand to the families at Beth El Farmworkers Ministry of Wimauma. A big THANK YOU to all who donated and contributed to beautiful memories of the day.

Channelside Academy Spring Concert at HPPC

The Middle School Chorus, under the direction of Melissa Hiteman, performed their Spring Concert on Thursday. It was wonderful to hear their beautiful voices, both as a chorus and as soloists, fill the Sanctuary with music. Thanks to Bruce Orand, who assisted with their audio needs!
