Deck the Halls after Worship on Nov. 24th!

Yep, the first Sunday in Advent is Dec. 1 and we want to come back from our Thanksgiving holidays to a beautifully decorated church. Stay after Worship to hang the garlands, climb ladders to hang the banners, put swags on doors and pews, and help outside to put up lights and the Joy Sign.  Back this year: the outdoor creche with the empty manger so people can “Come Wait With Us.”
There will be some food to sustain us … fun (and tasks) for all ages!

Toy/Gift Drive Starts Now!

Start shopping for the children (all ages through 12th grade) that are served by the Guardian ad Litem program. A list of suggested toys and gifts will be forthcoming, and gift cards are always welcome.
Plan to bring them UNWRAPPED to go under the Chrismon Tree on Dec. 8th!

Scammer “pastor” is back!
Beware of “pastor” asking for help! The email starts innocently enough: “I hope this message finds you well.” It is NOT really from “our” Pastor John Hougen whose email ends in “@hydeparkpres.com“.

These messages should be marked as spam and immediately deleted. Do not reply, do not forward to the church office (or anyone else). There is nothing we can do to stop people from creating an email address like this and trying to scam people – we all must be educated and remain vigilant. This does not mean Pastor John’s email was hacked, this does not mean the church systems are unsecure, this is a scam that preys on people that are unaware of these methods.

Always be wary of emails that express a sense of urgency or need, especially if they come from someone you might know!
