HPPC Session Meeting, January 30, 2024
– The Session officially welcomed our new elders, elected by the congregation, to serve in 2024, 2025 and 2026. They are Nancy Corwin, Sandy Kennedy, Ann Maxey, Harriet Plyler and Ann Shipherd.
– The Administrative and Building Committee, led by Brian Malek and Guy Bryant, presented a comprehensive proposal for a three-phase plan to improve and upgrade our church building and property. The Session unanimously approved the proposal, and voted to begin Phase I immediately. Phase I is estimated to cost $350,000; funds to come from the proceeds from sale of the Orleans property.
– Phase I will prepare our second floor to welcome a new Summer Camp (providing childcare for parents), co-led by Apollo Academy and STEAM. Included are upgrades and repairs to the 2nd floor HVAC system, bathrooms, ceiling tiles, carpet cleaning, and new paint. Work begins soon as the summer program starts June 1.
– A significant part of Phase I includes the hiring of a Facility Manager as soon as possible. If anyone has any recommended candidates, who would be qualified individuals to oversee the maintenance, upgrades and ongoing care of our building, please contact the Personnel Committee: Nancy Corwin at nanacorwin239@gmail.com or Ann Maxey at mabsmaxey@yahoo.com

Thanks for Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone!
A special thanks to the ordained elders of HPPC who have graciously shared their time and talents to serve in the pulpit during this time of transition for our church over the past eight months. It took a lot of courage, trust in God and a willingness to step out of their comfort zone. Some even served multiple times!
May God bless the following who answered God’s call in this manner to bring glory to the Lord and encourage our members: Kim Brannan, Nancy Corwin, Stacey Crum, Brian Malek, Harriet Plyler, Lynda Waters, and Dek Wright.
Each one has met the challenge issued by the disciple Peter, found in I Peter 4:10: “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” |
