Hustling to get Christmas Down.
Thursday evening Jan. 4th at the church.

I am now hustling to get Christmas taken down at the church. Is anyone available to help tomorrow evening to help get the decorations down??  We will leave the banners up until we swap for Lent, but need to get the ladder out to remove the wreaths from the choir loft and will need to get the Chrismons off the large tree and pack it away until next year … among other decor!

Please let me know if you are available and maybe we can celebrate after!
Thanks, Stacey Crum

CHURCH NEWS

Elders Ordained & Installed
Last Sunday, during morning worship, we held an Ordination and Installation Service to welcome the new class of elders to the Session.  Ann Shipherd was ordained and took her vows to commit to Christ and the church in her service.  Then, she was installed, along with returning elders Nancy Corwin, Sandy Kennedy, Ann Maxey and Harriet Plyler.

All ordained elders in the congregation came up to participate in the laying on of hands for the prayer of dedication for this new class of extraordinary women.  Please pray for these individuals, and the entire Session, as they lead our church into the new year.

Your Session met several times in December, despite the hectic holiday season. They accomplished the following and are looking forward to a bright 2024 for HPPC:
  • The Session authorized the Administrative Committee to negotiate a new five-year lease with Apollo Academy. Subsequently, approved the proposed five-year lease with Apollo Academy and are delighted to be expanding our relationship with the school long-term.
  • Approved that the Administrative Committee could begin to explore and negotiate a lease for consideration with a local non-profit organization, Elevate, whose mission is to work within high schools to provide mentoring, character building and Christian principles with students within Title I schools.
  • The Interim Pastor Search Committee reported that the search is going well, and they are very close to a completing the search. In January they plan to present a proposed candidate to the Session with the recommendation to hire.
