Mother’s Day Diaper Drive for Beth-El Farmworkers Mission now through Sunday!
Parents who work in the fields near Beth-El Mission need our help. Money is tight and diapers are a necessity if you have a small child. That’s where we can make a difference. Diapers for babies over 20 pounds are needed the most!
You are invited to make a donation of diapers to honor your mom. Please bring them with you when you come to church between now and Mother’s Day. Monetary donations are also welcome so Missions angels can shop for you. Thanks again for sharing the spirit of Christ with those around us. Make checks to HPPC; note Diaper Drive in the notation line.

CHURCH NEWS
Recap of the Congregational Meeting May 7, 2022
Last Sunday, May 7, we held a Congregational Meeting in the Chapel immediately following worship. Pastor John DeBevoise of Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church served as Moderator. Members voted to approve the dissolution of HPPC’s pastoral relationship with Rev. James Friesen, effective May 31, 2023, as recommended by the Session. Our terms of dissolution included salary and benefits for up to nine months, which will cease upon his acceptance of new employment; and to reimburse Rev. Friesen up to $7,500 to attend a retreat designed for pastors for spiritual restoration. Members may contribute to this Love Gift fund for the retreat. We thanked Pastor James for his nearly seven years of service to our church and committed our love and prayers to him and his family. The Friesens will vacate the manse, effective May 14.
Immediately following the business portion of the Congregational meeting, four Vision Team members presented our plans for moving forward (shown below).
Love Gift for Rev. Friesen Spiritual Restoration RetreatIf you would like to give a love gift to the Friesens in appreciation of nearly seven years of service, you may contribute to the fund for a spiritual restoration retreat designed for pastors.
Please make your check payable to HPPC and be sure to designate “love gift” in the notation line. Or check “other” in Easy Tithe or Church Center; please email finance@hydeparkpres.com to be sure it is directed properly.
Immediately following the business portion of the Congregational meeting on May 7, four Vision Team members presented to the congregation our plans for moving forward. – Kim Brannan shared how we plan to handle the summer months and that a Leadership Nominating Committee has been elected to search for an Interim Pastor.
– Tony Brannan Sr. presented how the Vision Team has identified our Core Values and developed a new Mission Statement for the church. “Our mission is to be the light and love of Christ in action for our community through worship, fellowship, service and learning.”
– Lynda Waters discussed four new Strategic Priorities in which we will concentrate energy and effort in the next year to rebuild. The four areas include: Worship and Music, Fellowship, Visitor Welcome Program, and Building & Property.
– Dek Wright emphasized that each area has a Task Force that has been formed and we need members to volunteer to serve on each one! It is imperative that we have insights and ideas from members to help formulate specific programs. Members had the opportunity to sign up following the meeting. If you would like the full power point presentation of the meeting, please click here to request.
