Discover the Biblical truth about a no-so-bad girl.  Sunday, June 15 @ 11am

Kelly Beiro will use the Bible along with the book “Unveiling Mary Magdalene” (Higgins) to lead the class. Last week we found out why so many think she was a prostitute. (Thanks, Pope Gregory the Great).

This week we discuss what we truly know of her from Scripture: healed from demons; traveled with disciples; leader among women; stood at the foot of the cross; first to see Jesus after the resurrection; supported Jesus financially; proclaimed him as the Christ.

Reading (or having) the book is not necessary to enjoy the study because Kelly made a wonderful handout. Join us!

Seeing Is Believing; the History of Christian Art
Starting June 22: Conference Room @ 11am & Zoom.Art has always been a way that the message of Christianity has been passed through thousands of years. Through art, illiterate people learned the Biblical stories and lessons. Modern people are struck with a deeper understanding and spiritiual longing that goes beyond cerebral Bible study.

Sample topics incude: Visualizing the Bible for the Illiterate;
The Black Death: How a Pandemic Transformed Christian Art;
The Renaissance: Reconciling the Past and the Present;
The Counter Reformation: A Reckoning between Art and Religion.

Join us this summer, in person or on Zoom, with Alexander Nixon. Nixon teaches art history at the University of Tampa, classes at Ringling College, and beginning this Fall, at Florida Polytechnic. He is a talented artist and his main focus today is sculpture. The class runs June 22 – August 10 (skipping July 6).

Would you like to be one of our Steeple People?
The Hyde Park Memorial Steeple will soon be completed as a symbol of God’s everlasting presence in our lives and our community. What better way to honor someone who has been special to you, or in the life of the church, than to symbolically make them part of this historic beacon of hope?If you would like to join the church families whose memorial funds will be designated for this project, please consider making a one-time memorial contribution in the name of a loved one … or just contribute because you want to help!

Our steeple has undergone repair and restoration work and painting is complete. The Cross (blown over in Hurricane Milton) is soon to be restored with new, updated lighting. The bell chimes are once again ringing. The Hyde Park Memorial Steeple will be a daily reminder of our mission: to be the Light and Love of Christ in action for our community.

Donations will be noted in the Bulletin and read aloud at a Dedication Service this Fall; $200 or more will be noted on a plaque; $500 or more will have a memorial brick in a future patio on the front lawn.

Click Here to donate, or Church Center app, or by check. Note Steeple People.
We will personally contact all donors for dedication wording.
