EVENTS & FELLOWSHIP
Work Day This Sunday
After a short worship meditation, we’ll open up the side Sanctuary doors for a work day in and around the church grounds. Dress comfortably, bring yard gloves, rakes, shovels, etc. Tasks will be available for all ability levels … or enjoy a cup of coffee and encourage us as you relax in the shade of the sanctuary breezeway!

Daylight Savings Time Ends
Sun. Nov. 3rdOne extra hour to sleep (remember when it was one more hour to party?). Don’t be late for Worship at 10:00 or you’ll miss it entirely!
Stewardship Sunday & Lite Bites Fellowship Oct. 27th
After offering our Pledge Cards for 2025 during Worship, we gathered for another cup of coffee, fellowship, and delicious food … both savory and sweet (and even gluten-free options!) … compliments of home chefs extraordinare, Jane Brannan and Ann Maxey. So fun! Thank You Jane, Ann (and Stacy Wallace for coffee!)

CHURCH NEWS

Don’t forget to return your Pledge Card
if you missed last Sunday.
HOW:
1. CLICK HERE to email finance@hydeparkpres.com which is a confidential email that goes directly to Rebecca, our financial secretary. Just write what you plan to give in 2025, and she can follow up by email if needed. (Easy Peasy.)
2. Come to church. In the foyer, you can pick up a letter with pledge card and an envelope (for confidentiality) and place in the offering plate. (Win-Win: worship & pledge.)
3. Dig through your “hurricane” stack of mail, find your letter and pledge card, bring it to church or find an envelope, stamp and mail it. (Hard: probably why we don’t have all the cards yet!)WHY: it is very hard to develop an accurate budget for 2025 with no estimate of giving.

Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’
— Luke 14:28-30

Thank you for your generosity!

Harriet’s Spooky Kitchen
Pumpkin Pie and True Tampa Ghost StoryPumpkin pie made from real pumpkins, not a can, will blow your socks off. It is just not the same dessert you think you know. Silky smooth, elegantly spicy, this pie will take your breath away. And then with homemade whipped cream slathered on top? Oh my…Bonus: at the end of the video, Harriet tells a real TRUE ghost story from Tampa Heights. Happy Halloween!

Running Late to Worship?  Knock
and the door shall be opened unto you.
Reminder: Sanctuary doors are locked at 10:10am on Sundays. One of the initiatives of our Security Task Force was to have a very good peephole put in the Swann Avenue sanctuary door. The doors will be locked at 10:10 am, but do not despair if you are running late. Just knock, and the usher will be happy to take a peek and let you in.The side doors on Orleans and Willow will also be locked once services start. Other initiatives by the task force involved multiple security cameras, motion-operated lights, more panic buttons, and overall safety protocols.
