“If you build it, they will come” says the premise in the 1989 movie “Field of Dreams.” Many church folk have applied that thinking to buildings and programs. What if God wants the church to build something else?

Check it out with Rev. John Hougen on the Hyde Park Presbyterian Church Facebook page. And share or forward it along … last week his Glimpse had 326 views! And be sure to join us Sunday. We’re better when we “Get Together”!

CHURCH NEWS
Meet Sarah, Shannon and Sharon and granddaughter Mckenzie.
Last week you were introduced to Terry and Susie and Stacy. This week, meet the rest of our new members!

Sarah Dann
Sarah Dann grew up in South Tampa and attended St. John’s and Robinson High School, where she was an avid cross country runner. Recently, she graduated from the University of Florida with an accounting degree and works for her family’s business helping with accounts payable. She loves attending Hyde Park Presbyterian Church and helping Faith out in the nursery.
Shannon Dann
Shannon is originally from Carrollton, GA and is happy to be a new member.  She has spent some time in the Baptist church, but feels very comfortable connecting with such a friendly group of people here at Hyde Park Presbyterian. She has already shared her love of singing with us during worship. In her spare time, Shannon enjoys reading (a love shared by many at HPPC).
Sharon Smith
Sharon’s mother and father were married at HPPC in 1944. Sharon and Cliff were married at HPPC in 1968. Her son was also married at HPPC. She has owned The Potting Shed on MacDill for 50 years this month. Sharon is the guardian of her 10 year old grandchild, Mckenzie. She is thrilled to be welcomed back to Hyde Park and looks forward to becoming a working member and to help make our church strong.

The 5 Finger Prayer

1- Your thumb is closest to your heart; so pray for those closest to you – your family and friends.
2- The pointer finger is used to give directions. Pray for teachers, coaches, therapists, doctors, first responders.
3- The middle finger is the tallest. Pray for leaders in government, business and the church.
4- The ring finger is the weakest. Pray for the sick, poor, those most in need.
5- The pinkie finger is the smallest. Pray for yourself and your own needs.

Another Peek at the Food and Fellowship on Sept. 8th

A delicious and festive Brunch followed our worship service where six new members joined Hyde Park Presbyterian Church. Nearly 40 people mingled and munched at tables set with a fall motif.
