Sunday School for all ages at 11:00 am
Adult Sunday School meets in the Learning Center. Our curriculum complements the children’s curriculum following the Israelites “Conquest to a Kingdom” as the Holy Spirit guides us all as one body in Christ. If you haven’t had an opportunity to join us, we would love to have you! Snacks and Coffee will be there to celebrate a new year of learning and seeking.
Kindergarten and Up children are “Moving Further” on September 11. Our Children’s program has grown and aged up over the years. We will be celebrating our school age children as they are “moving further” in their spiritual journeys and will be enjoying a fresh classroom and teachers!
Our Nursery and adjoining room will be a safe place to explore and learn with age appropriate activities for newborn through Pre-Kindergarten.
CHURCH NEWS
Dear Members of HPPC,
Thanks be to God for the success of the sale of the Orleans property which will help provide much-needed funds to support growth and rebuilding for our church. Our hearts are grateful!
At the last Congregational Meeting, several members asked if it was possible to have input into how the funds from the sale of the Orleans house would be used. The short answer is “yes!” … the longer answer follows.
We are happy to report that after the successful sale of the house, the Session is embarking on a process to engage our entire congregation. We’ll explore where we currently find ourselves post-Covid, and where we collectively desire to grow and build for our future.
If you attended worship on September 4th (or watched online), you saw a brief video about Leighton Ford Ministries. This is an outstanding national organization that will help us through this important process.
As a representative of our Session, I urge you to take part in each opportunity to make your voice heard. We sincerely care about each one of you. As fellow church members, we are engaged in growing our faith together, and I believe we all want to bring in new families and individuals to join us here in this special place. Your thoughts and ideas will be critical in rebuilding our church.
Working with Leighton Ford Ministries, HPPC will be led through a process that will involve two key phases: Discovery and Visioning. You are needed in each of these phases. Key dates to mark on your calendar include:
Discovery Phase: Survey & Focus Groups September 25 Members will be sent a survey which each person needs to complete and return. Individuals have until October 24th to submit their anonymous response. Then Leighton Ford Ministries will compile them and share the results with the congregation. November 11 & 12Focus Groups will be held at the church to discuss the findings of the survey and gain deeper insights. If you are tapped to attend one of these sessions, please say YES and attend. Your feedback is needed.
Visioning Phase: Church-wide Retreats
HPPC will then engage in Member Retreats. This will be an exciting time to engage in the visioning and planning process for our future. You have several opportunities to participate: January 13, 14, 2023; February 17, 18; March dates TBD.
Will you join me in praying for this exciting process as we work together to grow and strengthen our beloved HydePark Pres? We need each one of you to be involved as we grow our faith within our church, and within our community.
With Love and Blessings,
Kim Brannan, Vision Committee Chair
Sept. 11th is Patriot Day
Patriot Day occurs on September 11 of each year in memory of the people killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks. The national flag is flown at half-staff; Americans are also encouraged to display flags in and outside their homes. Additionally, a moment of silence is observed to correspond with the attacks, beginning at 8:46 a.m. (Eastern Daylight Time), the time the first plane, American Airlines Flight 11, struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
Baptism of Ryker Pines
