Founded in 1914, Hyde Park Presbyterian has served Tampa for over 100 years. Our core values are to bring people to God, help them know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, teach them the Bible and invite them to serve others. New worshipers are always welcome. If our staff can serve you in some way, don’t hesitate to contact us. Also, talk to us about holding your wedding in our beautiful sanctuary.
We have two styles of worship Sunday mornings: A contemporary service and a traditional Service. Both services are held in the sanctuary. You can enter from W. Swann Avenue or from the parking lot at the corner of Willow and Swann. We have parking places reserved for visitors in this lot. There is also an entrance on Orleans Avenue. Contemporary worship begins at 9:15 am and traditional worship begins at 11:15 am – each one hour long. A nursery is available during both services. Communion is observed on the first Sunday of the month at both services.
Here’s what to expect from each service:
The service takes place at 9:15 am in the sanctuary. You can enter through the white doors that face West Swann Avenue or there is an entrance from the parking lot on Willow and Swann. You might also use the Orleans Street entrance. If you enter from the side doors, someone can direct you to the sanctuary. It’s a friendly crowd and you are invited to find a place in a pew.
Traditional worship takes place at 11:15 in the sanctuary. Enter from Swann Ave. or from either the Orleans or Willow entrances. Our parking lot, which has special places reserved for visitors, has its own entrance. Our ushers will greet you, give you a worship bulletin and answer any questions you have.
Whichever style of worship you choose, we welcome your presence.
Answers to some questions you might have:
What do folks wear?
At the contemporary service, dress is quite casual. We want you to feel comfortable worshiping, so feel free to dress comfortably. At the traditional service, most people wear business casual attire; suits for men are uncommon.
What do I do with my kids?
If you have a child from ages 0-3, please feel free to drop your child off at the nursery when you arrive. Please check out the Nursery page for more information. If you have a child from ages 3 yr to 5th grade, they are welcome to stay in the service (tote bags for children are found at the entrance to both services) or participate in Sunday School. Please check out the Sunday School page for more information on age groups and times.
Do I need anything for the service?
Bibles are provided for the traditional service and relevant verses are displayed on the screen at the contemporary service.
